Simple Steps for Recycling and Disposal in Placer County
Toss your trash in the garbage bin without sorting.
We often call the garbage bin the “One Big Bin.” Toss it in, and we’ll sort it for you at our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
Keep Household Hazardous Waste out of your garbage bin.
Drop most HHW off at one of our convenient drop-off locations, or schedule a free curbside pickup.

On your trash day, place your garbage bin at the curb for your hauler to pick up.

Placer County residents can drop off household hazardous waste (HHW) at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) free of charge, daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Find our location and hours here.  Check with your local hauler to find out whether they offer curbside pickup of HHW and whether you can schedule a pickup.

Your food waste can be thrown away in your One Big Bin with other recyclables. These organic wastes will be diverted from ending up in the landfill due to facility improvements being made at the WPWMA’s Materials Recovery Facility and recycled into new materials like compost or biofuel.
