California state law requires paint manufacturers and the paint industry to provide convenient paint recycling at drop-off sites where you can take your paint. This keeps paint out of the trash, and it helps recycle paint that can be reused. The California Paint Stewardship Program, known as Paint Care, works with retailers to provide drop-off sites and recycle paint.
Visit the California Paint Stewardship Program website for a list of drop-off locations in your area.
Please note that leaking, unlabeled, and empty containers are not accepted at drop-off sites.
Placer County residents can drop off paint at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) free of charge, daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Find our location and hours here. You can also explore your jurisdiction’s curbside pickup option, please contact your waste hauler.
