Hier bei der WPWMA besch\u00e4ftigen wir uns intensiv mit dem Thema Ger\u00fcche. Ger\u00fcche sind hier allgegenw\u00e4rtig, da sie ein nat\u00fcrliches Nebenprodukt der von uns verarbeiteten Materialien sind. Leider k\u00f6nnen manche Ger\u00fcche sehr intensiv sein und sich an Orte ausbreiten, wo sie nicht hingeh\u00f6ren. Die WPWMA hat daher im Laufe der Jahre Ma\u00dfnahmen ergriffen, um zu verhindern, dass sich unangenehme Ger\u00fcche weit au\u00dferhalb des Gel\u00e4ndes ausbreiten. Wir arbeiten hart daran, den Anwohnern und Unternehmen in der N\u00e4he ein guter (und nicht stinkender) Nachbar zu sein.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woher kommen Ger\u00fcche?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Im Jahr 2015 untersuchte die WPWMA die Ger\u00fcche in unserer Anlage und stellte fest, dass fast 701 Tonnen Ger\u00fcche aus unserer Kompostierung stammten, mehr als 251 Tonnen Ger\u00fcche aus dem inaktiven Teil der Deponie, etwa 31 Tonnen aus dem aktiven Deponiebetrieb und weniger als 11 Tonnen aus der Materialr\u00fcckgewinnungsanlage (MRF), in der Materialien nach Wertstoffen sortiert werden. Basierend auf diesen Informationen und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Placer County Luftverschmutzungskontrollbezirk<\/a>haben wir ein Standortweiter Geruchsplan<\/a>, ein Tool f\u00fcr die WPWMA und ihre Anlagenbauer, Berater und P\u00e4chter zur Reduzierung der Gefahr von Ger\u00fcchen au\u00dferhalb des Gel\u00e4ndes. Es ist jedoch ein weit verbreiteter Irrglaube, dass alle Ger\u00fcche schlecht sind \u2013 im Gegenteil, es gibt auf unserem Gel\u00e4nde mehrere Ger\u00fcche, die neutral oder sogar angenehm sein k\u00f6nnen! Wenn wir Gartenabf\u00e4lle (wie B\u00e4ume, Gras und Pflanzen) verarbeiten und zu Kompost recyceln, verstr\u00f6mt dieses Material einen milden, erdigen Geruch \u2013 einen, der besonders kurz nach den Feiertagen angenehm ist, wenn wir Weihnachtsb\u00e4ume recyceln! Auch viele Materialien aus Bauabf\u00e4llen (wie Holz, Metall und Beton) sind neutral oder gar nicht ger\u00fcche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Techniken zur Geruchsminderung<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Unmittelbar nach der Abgabe Ihres Abfalls an der Materialr\u00fcckgewinnungsanlage<\/a> (MRF) starten wir den Geruchsminderungsprozess. Unser MRF sortiert recycelbares Material aus dem Abfallstrom und sehr bald unser neues hochmodernes MRF<\/a> Wir sortieren organische Abf\u00e4lle (wie Essensreste und verschmutzte Papierprodukte) und recyceln diese Materialien mit Gartenabf\u00e4llen zu n\u00e4hrstoffreichem Kompost. Essensreste sind ein besonders \u00fcbelriechendes Material, das wir hier recyceln. Um diese Ger\u00fcche zu mildern, decken wir neue Lebensmittelabf\u00e4lle in unserer Kompostanlage innerhalb einer Stunde nach ihrer Ankunft ab. Dadurch k\u00f6nnen wir die Ger\u00fcche deutlich reduzieren, indem wir sie unter einer Schicht fertigen Komposts einschlie\u00dfen (dieser Prozess ist bekannt als Bel\u00fcftete statische Haufenkompostierung<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir setzen au\u00dferdem verschiedene fortschrittliche Technologien zur Geruchskontrolle ein, um unseren Geruch im Auge zu behalten. Dabei handelt es sich um Ger\u00e4te zur Quantifizierung von Ger\u00fcchen, wie Nasen-Ranger (siehe Abbildung oben), Flusskammern und Geruchssensoren. Sie helfen uns, Daten zu sammeln, um festzustellen, welche Faktoren zur Ausbreitung eines Geruchs beitragen. Wind, Materialzusammensetzung und Wetter spielen bei der Geruchskontrolle oft eine wichtige Rolle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wir sind stolz darauf, die Anzahl der Geruchsbeschwerden in den letzten Jahren reduziert zu haben, da wir intensiv daran arbeiten, die Geruchsbelastung in unseren Betrieben zu minimieren. Uns ist jedoch bewusst, dass es nicht m\u00f6glich ist, Ger\u00fcche vollst\u00e4ndig zu vermeiden.
